Saakshi Sovani

Outside of school, I participate in Model UN, Health Occupations Students of America, and Cross Country. I also love art — watercolor, oil pastel, sketching, painting, you name it — and illustrating cards for Hey [You] has given me a great opportunity to keep up my hobby and put my art skills to use. I started drawing at a young age, and over the years I’ve picked up many other forms of art, including calligraphy, bullet journaling, and photography. I also love writing (a skill which I’ve also been able to exercise by contributing to this project) as well as reading. In my free time, I read anything from science fiction to classic literature, and write anything from letters to short films. Music, another passion of mine, is also something I’ve spent a lot of time working on while stuck at home these past few months. I’m currently learning Fritz Kreisler’s Sicilienne and Rigaudon on the violin and Chopin’s Waltz in A minor on the piano.

While the many months stuck at home due to the pandemic have been disheartening, working on my hobbies and giving back to the community through this project have helped lift my spirits, and I hope that Hey [You] brings some joy to your day, too.
