Rishik Tatavarthi: Meet the Team

The first one being my position as Secretary in Science Olympiad. One of the biggest fundraisers I ran along with the help of the other two board members was the Science Olympiad Summer camp. We raised over $1600 which got our club financially ready. Along with that some of my responsibilities will include planning future fundraisers, booking competitions, planning tryouts, and having any team bonding events if possible.

Another leadership position I had was being the JV tennis captain. Some of my responsibilities included collecting forms necessary to play tennis for the season, collected team fees to fund transportation and food. I was responsible for the finances of the team, so I had to make sure we did not overspend at any match. I was also in charge of communicating with parents to help with rides from competitions and to bring us food to every competition. Lastly, I had to plan team bonding events at places like bowling, laser tag, dinners at restaurants, etc.

I was also Chapter Lead of a non-profit organization called Donate Essentials. This organization is dedicated towards COVID-19 relief. Our volunteers make hand sewn masks which we donate to the underprivileged and hospitals in need. My responsibilities included making a board through an interview process, making flyers to make our organization more well known, posting frequently on social media, planning fundraisers, finding new volunteers, and lastly contacting shelters and hospitals to find appropriate places to donate.

Lastly, I was the founder and head coach of Math Pentathlon at Hamilton Elementary. Math pentathlon is a competition that tests a students ability to use logic, strategy, and math through a series of 5 games. Some of my responsibilities included coordinating with the PTA, designing spirit wear, collecting funds, maintaining constant contact with parents to give updates, and creating adaptable study materials to help these kids learn how to play these 5 games. Lastly, I was also responsible to register the team for the state competition. Overall my students placed well at the competition as many got 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place.
